Chains

Tony Beal Limited stocks large quantities of various types of chain for a variety of uses ranging from mild steel chain for loadbinding to grade 80 lifting chain. Whilst most of the chain we stock is used either for lashing loads or for lifting purposes, there is a large range of grades of chain available.

The most popular chain is 3/8" mild steel loadbinder chain which is supplied in any length required and is commonly used in the haulage trade.
For those that require a stronger chain we have the grade 40 high tensile chain in the popular size of 3/8" and for those who require the ultimate in strength, usually for low loading vehicles, we stock grade 80 high tensile load chain. We can also supply a wide range of hooks to complement the chains - please see lifting systems for details.

Complementing this stock of chain we have a varied range of loadbinders as below:-

Tony Beal Limited strongly recommends that the use of a pipe is not employed to tighten a loadbinder and if enough tension cannot be achieved then a ratchet loadbinder is used instead.

Also complementing our stock of chains, we hold a wide and varied range of shackles.

Amongst those that we stock are screw pin and safety pin dee & bow shackles to US Federal Specification RR-C-271B, BS3032 dee & bow and galvanised commercial shackles. We also sell green pin, economy range alloy and galvanised commercial shackles. If you have any requirement then please contact us and we shall be only too happy to assist you. We can also supply from stock a range of thimbles for rope, straining and rigging screws, turnbuckles, eyebolts, wire rope grips and a wide variety of other accessories.

Rope

Since TBL is one of the largest stockists of rope in Scotland we can supply various markets with a prompt efficient service. The fishing, haulage, engineering, building and farming industries all form part of our client base. We stock a full range of sizes from 4mm polyester to 48mm polypropylene and have many specialist ropes, e.g. blue & red twisted yarn construction rope for both the haulage trade and fishing industry. For those customers who wish to have the colour of their rope customised to suit their vehicle livery, we can offer the facility of producing rope to their specified colour scheme for minimum run quantities. Another advantage of this is that, since specific colour schemes are recogniseable, it can act as an anti-theft deterrent.

Just some of the types of rope available are polypropylene, manila, sisal, nylon, mono-filament and polyester. The lightest man-made fibre rope is polypropylene. It is available as split film, twisted yarn, monofilament or staple spun yarn. It is highly resistant to acids, alkalis and oils, though it can be affected by bleaching agents and industrial solvents. The strongest man-made fibre rope is nylon which has a high durability factor and is also resistant to alkalis, oils and organic solvents.

Similar to nylon but heavier and slightly weaker is polyester, resistant to acid, bleaching agents, organic solvents and oil.

The highest quality natural rope is manila which is not the strongest rope by far, but is exceptionally tough and will stand up to wear and tear, similar to its sister rope, sisal, which is weaker but cheaper - both are commonly used for winch applications.

All are available in various sizes and weights. The most common ones are:
  1. Medium Packing Twine, 1 ply, available in 1575m spools weighing 4.5 kilos, used for general applications with an average breaking load of 100kgs. Packed in bags of 4 spools.
  2. Thick Baling Twine, 4 ply, available in 555m spools weighing 3 kilos, popular for heavy usage with an average breaking load of 173kgs. Packed in bags of 4 spools.
  3. Medium Red Baler Twine, single ply available in 5000ft spools weighing approx. 5.1kilos, used as hay baling twine with an average break load of 120 kilos. Packed in bags of 2 spools.
  4. Sisal Twine, 2 ply available in 750m balls weighing 2.5 kilos, popular for general packaging with an average breaking load of 80 kilos. Packed in bags of 10 balls.
  5. Sisal Twine, 3 ply, available in 500m balls weighing 2.5kgs, popular for heavy packaging with an average breaking load of 80 kilos. Packed in bags of 10 balls.
  6. No 5 Rayon Twine, available in 300m spools weighing 500kg, very popular for the butchery trade with an average breaking load of 50 kilos. Packed in boxes of 10 spools.

  9. High density 10/27 orange polyethylene twine, 3 ply, available in 570m spools weighing 1 kilo, most commonly used as a stronger twine for road marking, and also, because of its colour being high visibility orange, it is ideal for marking off areas on building sites. A less common application is for the repair of fishing nets. It has an average breaking load of 65 kilos. Packed in bags of 5 spools and also available in 5 kilo spools.
  10. High density 3.5mm green polyethylene twine, flat braided, available in 450m spools weighing 2 kilos, most commonly used for either fishing net repairs or for tying scaffolding netting onto the framework, with an average breaking load of 150 kilos. Packed in bags of two spools.

Polyethylene Tarpaulins

These tarpaulins are very commonly used for covering goods on building sites for short term periods and as a lightweight form of sheeting. They are manufactured from 1000 denier tape woven 10 x 10 threads per inch with 30 microns coating on both sides. They have welded seams and a cord in the hem for strengthening purposes and eyelets every 90cms. Ropes can be supplied as an extra but are not standard. The stock sizes are as below but we can manufacture any size required. The stock tarpaulins are all nominal sizes and are coloured blue or translucent.

1.4.5 x 3.5 m(15 x 12 ft)
2.5.5 x 3.5 m(18 x 12 ft)
3.6 x 4.5 m(20 x 15 ft)
4.7 x 5.5m(23 x 18 ft)
5.9 x 7 m(30 x 23 ft)
6.11 x 7 m(36 x 23 ft)
7.14 x 9 m(46 x 30 ft)

Scaffold Netting

Ideal for scaffold cladding, this high density U.V. stabilised monofilament polyethylene netting has woven eyelets every 10cms in the length and also at regular intervals in the width.
The roll sizes available are 2m, 3m and 4m wide. All are 50m long.
This netting is extremely popular as it is cost effective, lightweight and resilient in bad weather conditions, yet it still lets enough light through without hampering workmen.
