How to order

Tarpaulins, constructed from a range of materials, are supplied for many purposes; ranging from made to measure for specialised vehicles to plain sheets for flat bed vehicles. We have a long experience of manufacturing to the customers needs, and using modern day materials we can supply tarpaulins to suit every purpose, including flame retardant translucent scaffold tarpaulins, heat resistant Tarmac tarpaulins and concrete curing tarpaulins.

REGENTEX® Tarpaulins

Regentex Tarpaulins are a modern day equivalent to cotton tarpaulins, as they are both water resistant and rot-proof. Regentex tarpaulins are available in a variety of weights. The most common weight used for road haulage is notably lighter than PVC or cotton and does not absorb water, making it the most popular cloth for tarpaulins in the modern day haulage trade. Also, due to its unique rip-stop feature, any rips caused by misuse are easily contained until the tarpaulin can be repaired. Regentex tarpaulins are primarily used for covering materials that may damage the tarpaulin, i.e. steel, aluminium, wire and pipes; but can still be used for general purpose work.

PVC Tarpaulins

PVC Tarpaulins, being rot-proof and waterproof, are primarily used when protecting goods from the elements. They are less susceptible to damage from ultra-violet rays, i.e. sunlight, and can remain outside in all weathers without suffering a loss in tensile strength. As they are also lightweight they are ideal for covering timberstock and building materials, though they are primarily used for covering grain in tipping vehicles and covering general purpose goods in road haulage.

Cotton Tarpaulins

Cotton Tarpaulins are treated to become waterproof and rot resistant, but since cotton is a natural fibre they are also "breathable". The combination of waterproof and breathable properties makes cotton tarpaulins ideal for covering foodstuffs on flat bed vehicles. For example, hay and potatoes are usually covered by cotton tarpaulins, especially in winter as condensation does not form. Unfortunately, as cotton is a traditional fabric and slightly dated, it can become quite a heavy material when wet and has no natural rip-stop in it, thereby making it more susceptible to damage if misused.

Scaffold Tarpaulins

Scaffold Tarpaulins are manufactured from modern fabric that is not only lightweight, making them easy to lift to the heights required on scaffolding, but also lets light through. Because the material is translucent, vital work can be carried out without being hampered by darkness. The material is also 100% waterproof, rot-proof, has a high resistance to tearing and abrasion and is flame retardant tested to BS 7387:1996, as well as BS 5867 Part 2 type B when tested to BS5438 test 2. These tarpaulins can be manufactured with ropes on them to tie to the scaffolding or, alternatively, can have unique interlocking eyelets welded onto them.

Tarmac Tarpaulins

Tarmac Tarpaulins are manufactured from a lightweight 16oz/sq yd jute cloth. The main advantage of this cloth is that it is a cheap fabric that has a high resistance to heat. This makes it ideal for covering Tarmac for transport to a site. Whilst it is not a particularly strong cloth, nor waterproof, these are not important features when covering Tarmac.

Polypropylene Tarpaulins

Polypropylene tarpaulins are lightweight and exceptionally strong for their weight and do not absorb water, making them ideal as a modern alternative to jute.

Flame Retardant Tarpaulins

Whilst we are manufacturers of scaffold tarpaulins and welders' screens (see Specialist Products) we are also manufacturers of various kinds of tarpaulin that have the requirement of being flame retardant. We can manufacture almost any type, weight or colour of material into a flame retardant tarpaulin, for example tarpaulins for the fire department for fire drills and protective covers for computer stores.

Polyethylene Tarpaulins

Polyethylene Tarpaulins are usually supplied in stock sizes (see merchanted products) but if necessary we can manufacture any size to satisfy your requirements. The tarpaulin is constructed from a 10 x 10 construction material available in natural, blue or green and we also supply a 14 x 14 construction material which is available in blue. These covers are normally ordered in large sizes (e.g. to cover hay in fields, salt bays for roads departments or to protect areas from sunlight).

Frost Protection Tarpaulins / quilt covers

These tarpaulins are specially designed to protect goods from the cold and frost during transportation, e.g. potatoes.
The covers are manufactured from a special double thickness quilting polyester fabric with a piece of waterproof material sewn on one side to protect the cover from absorbing any water. They are ideal to place over any product that has to be stored overnight in an area susceptible to the cold.
These covers can also be supplied with eyelets and ropes or any other type of fitment to secure the cover if required.
Quilt covers can be provided for a variety of needs. Potato quilt covers ensure there is enough heat in the ground to allow for growth, while tar & concrete curing quilts ensure there is enough warmth to allow setting.

LOADING BAY BOLSTERS

Bolsters stop costly damage to both your vehicles and your property by providing a sturdy safety feature. The bolster is a seasoned timber base 8ft 4ins long by 1ft wide and 2 ins thick. High density foam wedge expands to 1ft 4ins across the outer face, all encased in heavyweight PVC with a unique 'Armadillo' overlapping Panama PVC shield for long lasting service. Our bolsters have been installed at several locations throughout the UK, including Safeway supermarkets.

TARPAULIN HIRES

Tarpaulins are available for hire - suitable for vehicle use or general purpose. Various types of material, weights and sizes are available at competitive rates.

All tarpaulins are supplied as standard fully hemmed, strengthened, eyeletted and roped, although custom strengthening and fittings can be incorporated if requested.
We also offer a stencilling and sign-writing service, putting the tarpaulin to work for you by means of advertising, or enabling security tagging of tarpaulins, preventing theft and misuse.
