The Company Tony Beal Ltd, owned by our founder Mr Tony Beal was formed. It primarily serviced the transport and agricultural sector and focused in the first instance primarily on repairs and supply of tarpaulins and the merchant of rope. It’s fair to say that no order was ever turned away and we gained a reputation for almost being a 24 hour service.
Tony Beal Ltd starts to manufacture webbing lashing products – a product that would later replace rope for a number of applications.
Our factory extension commences at our Muirhead Road property, thereby doubling production capacity. Every square inch of it is used.
Full manufacturing facilities of canvas & pvc tarpaulins as well as netting products, associated items.
We commenced exporting Tarpaulins to middle east for specific construction projects.
Tony Beal Ltd relocates to Station Road, Baillieston. A move to a 60,000 sq. foot factory - which just seemed positively huge at the time and we all kept fit as we got used to visiting all the departments during the day.
We achieve BS 5750 pt2 –one of the first tarpaulin firms to obtain the standard.
Purchase of Stoke Manufacturing Facility.
Our current Group Managing Director joins in the business to work full time, having failed to achieve enough qualifications to go to University. Not unsurprisingly given the family background, his first job was working in the production repairs team, on the factory floor.
Tony Beal were awarded kitemark licence BS 3408.
We become an approved supplier to the MoD – the start of a long association.
Tony Beal Ltd wins one of the UK’s largest order for tarpaulins, producing over 12,000 sq metres of finished tarpaulins per week.
A sister company to Tony Beal Ltd is formed: Sportscovers (Scotland) Ltd.
We produce one of the largest ever tarpaulins – a whopping 130m x 70m, weighing just over 6 tonnes taking over 25 people to wrap it up.
Tent production commences in Glasgow – yet another product line for us.
Sadly, our founder, Tony Beal passes away after a short battle with cancer and missed by all.
Our business is acquired by our current Group MD, David Beal (who has now progressed on from his first role with the business).
Tony Beal Ltd grows its product range to supply the Automotive, Airmotive & Modular building markets.
Sportscovers (Scotland) Ltd has its name changed to Sport & Play (Scotland) Ltd in order to reflect the areas of business that it is involved in.
CBR, the commercial body repair division of Tony Beal Ltd is formed to service, repair and refurbish commercial vehicle trailers for our customer base.
Rhino Textile Products UK Ltd becomes a member of the Beal Group, giving us our production facility in the West Midlands.
The next generation: Joshua Beal starts working in Tony Beal Ltd - on his school holidays.
Graffix Detail, the printing division of Tony Beal Ltd is formed to service our customers printed requirements for signage and branded products.
Our production unit increases it’s printing capacity with the arrival of full large format screen printing and wide format digital printing. Space is now becoming a premium.
